A very shocking thing has happened as a woman 65 years has been jailed after she was convicted of having duped the British government of over 1Million Pounds.

The woman who was named as Christina from Runcorn, a town in the southeast of the Liverpool City Region on the southern bank of the River Mersey, Chesire, UK.

According to reports, the woman has been sentenced to 3 years and 8 months for her act.

Online media reported that she has scammed the British government to the tune of over 1 million pounds.

Christina lied to the authorities that she was blind and paralyzed as she was frequently seen around in a wheelchair. Investigations into her case revealed that she was never blind, neither was she paralyzed as she claims.

Tapes played to the full glare of the authorities saw Christina reading newspapers, driving, taking a walk in the park, picking her grandchildren from school all by herself without any external help from anyone around her.

Her husband, John Pomfrey said that Christina’s fraudulent activities were new to him because he had no idea of what she has been accused of. John is very disappointed in his wife and has threatened he will never forgive her for such shame.

She has pleaded guilty to all charges leveled against her as she claims she is happy she has been caught. Telling how she used the money, she said that she used some for charity and spent the rest on vacations and cosmetic treatment.

Judge Sophie McKone sentenced her to jail saying:

“You grossly exaggerated your disabilities in pretending you were completely blind and that your multiple sclerosis was of such severity that you required significant and costly care.

“This was money to which you were not entitled. Over 15 years, you stole £1 million from your fellow citizens. Money which would have gone to people who justly deserved it, money that could have gone to schools and hospitals.”
