Leyton Orient are due to face Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

Leyton Orient have confirmed that a number of their first team playing squad have tested positive for Coronavirus

But a number of Leyton Orient players have returned positive tests for Coronavirus ahead of the clash the club confirmed.

The League Two side underwent testing following their 2-2 draw against Mansfield on Saturday and a number of their players have tested positive.

The club released an official statement to publicly confirm and inform Tottenham and the EFL

The Club statement read: “Following our game on Saturday 19th September, Covid-19 testing was carried out on all of our first-team playing squad.

“Today (Monday 21st) we recieved we recieved formal confirmation which shows that a number of our first-team squad have tested positive for Covid-19.

“We have informed the EFL and Tottenham Hotspur and will make a further announcement regarding Thursday’s match shortly.

“We have also informed Mansfield Town, Plymouth Argyle and Oldham Athletic, our three most recent opponents, prior to the public release of this information.

“Leyton Orient’s priority is the health and well-being of its players and staff. Those who have tested positive will now strictly follow Government’s self-isolation guidelines.

“The Breyer Group Stadium and training ground facilities will be closed until further notice.”

Both Plymouth Argyle and Mansfield Town have also issued statements saying they will carry out another round of testing as a precaution.

The EFL also made a statement that it is awaiting discussions between club medics and the Public Health England before taking any decision

The EFL has also issued a statement that it is awaiting confirmation from the discussion between the club medics and Public Health of England which will before deciding whether the game against Spurs can go on.
