In the last three weeks, the active cases of coronavirus were 398 in Ghana, however, as of Monday morning, the cases skyrocketed to 1156 indicating a 292% increase.

The President days that Greater Accra Region alone accounts for 75% of the cases indicating 867 cases, Asante, Bono, and Western Regions account for 16% indicating 185 of the cases, whereas other regions account for 4% representing 46 cases and Kotoka International Airport 5% indicating 58 cases.

320 deaths recorded where most of them had underlying health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and Asthma, President Akufo Addo said.

The President in his latest update on COVID-19 indicated that It is also observed according to the statistics for the last weeks that 130 new cases are recorded daily.

The lame reasons for the surge in the cases are the minimal or no adherence of the coronavirus safety protocols postulated by the World Health Organisation( WHO) and the Ghana Health Service like the wearing of face masks, regular washing of hands under running water, regular use of hand sanitizers, and social distancing protocols coupled with complacency when the active cases dropped drastically.

President Akufo Addo has also intimated that all people living in Ghana must comply with the safety protocols as security apparatus have been mandated and authorized to bring perpetrators to book.

COVID-19 is not gone yet everybody must protect himself or herself.
