Angry residents of Adabraka Odorna in the Greater Accra Region have vandalized their police station as a result of the death of a young man which they blamed the Police for. The young man fell and drown in the Odaw drain. 

The residents accused a policeman of pushing the man into the drain. A number of them carried the body of the deceased to the police station and staged a siege.

The Assemblyman of the area, Mr Hendrick Noble Kinnah spoke to Citinewsroom about the incident. He said he heard about the incident on Wednesday, in the evening at 5:41 pm. He was told the deceased fell into the drain while trying to escape police pursuit.

“He fell into the Odaw drain and he couldn’t swim back…There were police who came to make arrests and he ran and fell into the drain,” Mr Kinnah said.

He said he made his way to the police station immediately he heard of the incident. He saw two policemen at the scene when he arrived. One was assaulted by residents with blood in his mouth. Several police vehicles were seen at the scene yesterday as the police and the military scrambled to the area.
