Dr. Kobby Mensah, a lecturer and a political marketing expert at the University of Ghana has said that President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo can no longer claim he is incorruptible.
The renowned lecturer was speaking about the President’s recent “proceed on leave” order to the Auditor-General. He said this single act by the president cancel all assumptions and assertions that he is not corrupt.
On June 29, the president in a letter, ordered the Auditor General to proceed on an accumulated leave of 123 days starting July 1. The leave was later increased to 167 days after the A-G Daniel Domelevo wrote to the president explaining to him why his directive was unconstitutional.
Speaking on Starr FM, Dr Kobby Mensah said, “You can’t go to the people and say you’re the incorruptible man because you have actually eroded that perception. If you can easily dismiss your auditor general, what you have done is to erode that gain that you had”.
Last week, the Auditor General realised he was locked out of his office when he visited to pick up some documents. Officials said the locks to the office were changed to “secure” the office.
