Psalm 17:15
As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in your likeness. What a promise. In the old Testament, people feared seeing the Lord face to face for they were aware of their sin and also aware of his righteousness and Judgement. The sight of him caused some to fall on their knees and tremble. Moses, however, saw the Lord face to face and did not die. This astounded the people.
What a contrast to these verses where the psalmist is looking forward to seeing the Lord face to face. He is confident of being transformed into his likeness. Could we say the same thing?
If we belong to the Lord, he is transforming us. We should be confident that one day we will see him face to face and we will be like him. Amen.
