The Ghana Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has invitee the national chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, for questioning.
Mr Mornah has been invited for several allegations he allegedly made against Electoral Commission officials and in connection with the upcoming voter registration exercise.
According to a letter in which Bernard Mornah was invited to the CID headquarters in Accra, the PNC chairman was quoted as saying that he would oppose the EC’s efforts to create a new voter register.
“People who are already Ghanaian and already registered will be excluded from the voter register. Don’t you think that confusion will occur at the registration station and if confusion occurs there, do you think the EC’s staff are safe, we will fight there and kill each other there if The EC wants to lead this nation to that path,” the letter quoted Mr Mornah
Mr Mornah is expected to be at the CID headquarters on Tuesday, 2 June 2020, at 10 am.
The PNC Chairman was reported to have made the comment at a press conference held by the Inter-Party Resistance on the New Register (IPRAN) on May 26, 2020.
He was invited to help investigate the comments associated with him.
