The No Kid Hungry campaign, a child charity has rejected a whopping $200,000 donation from American Rapper 6ix9ine. The charity said they have a policy of rejecting donations from people who don’t fall in line with their values.
6ix9ine posted on his Instagram page that he is donating $200,000 to the group to help alleviate hunger and poverty in the United States as part of the COVID-19 fight. He had since deleted the post due to the rejection of his gift.
6ix9ine is currently serving the rest of his jail term at home as a result of the Coronavirus. He was convicted of crimes including racketeering with a criminal gang. He accepted a plea deal and is serving a reduced sentence.
The Rapper has called the move by the charity “cruel.” The Brooklyn Rapper had previously gotten away with child sex offence charges in 2015, a possible reason why the campaign rejected his donation.
“We are grateful for Mr Hernandez’s generous offer to donate to No Kid Hungry but we have informed his representatives that we have declined this donation,” Share Our Strength, the organization that runs the campaign said in a statement.
“As a child-focused campaign, it is our policy to decline funding from donors whose activities do not align with our mission and values.”
