The number of cases is expected to increase as Disease and Surveillance Department of the Ghana Health Service have suspected cases coupled with on-going contact tracing, the Deputy Director for the Western Region Health Directorate, in-charge of Clinical Care, Dr. Atsu Dodor.

According to reports, Dr. Atsu Dodor also indicated that the patients are managed from their homes, however, 4 of them are moved to isolation centers due to the nature of their houses in a bid to prevent the spread of the pandemic through them. All 23 patients are said to be asymptomatic. This means that the infection rate is mild and can be managed medically should their immune system boosted expeditiously “all other things being equal”.

It is my fervent hope that as other medical centers in Ghana are getting 100% recoveries, Western Region too will achieve the same. Westerners should take precautionary measures seriously in a bid to reduce the risks of infection.
