1300 workers in an industrial facility undisclosed by the Ghana Health Service were tested for COVID-19, 553 workers tested positive which formed part of the new 921 cases recently added between May 4 and May 8, 2020. The total confirmed cases in Ghana according to Ghana Health Service update is 4012, 323 recoveries, and 18 deaths. This means that Ghana is actually on record taking care of 3672 COVID-19 patients.

The recommendations for all to follow to reduce and contain COVID-19 postulated by WHO and the Ghana Health Service are;

  1. wear the facemask always, change when damp
  2. maintain two metres or more between yourself and others
  3. wash your hands frequently with soap under running water or use alcohol-based hand rub, especially after direct contact with ill people or their environment
  4. Avoid unprotected contact with farm or wild animals
  5. When coughing or sneezing cover mouth and nose with an elbow or disposable tissue, throw away tissue in a covered bin and wash hands right away with soap under running water
  6. Avoid touching your mouth, nose, and eyes to limit the spread of infection
  7. observe self-quarantine rules to protect everyone
