91 staff of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has reportedly contracted coronavirus in the course of the discharge of their professional duties. This has forced the management of the hospital to put on hold non-emergency surgery and other non- emergency services for two weeks.
According to the Public Relations Department, this decision will help to reduce the risk of the remaining staff in getting infected with coronavirus in the course of their professional endeavours as well as the patients of the hospital.
This does not indicate the closure of the entire facility but only suspension of services on non-surgical emergency and other non-emergency cases. It is evidentially clear that the cases of coronavirus in Ghana is on the rise. The total confirmed cases according to the Ghana Health Service is 21,077, 16070 recoveries, 992 new cases, 4878 active cases, and 129 deaths.
