A judge rejected Dr. Dre’s estranged wife, Nicole Young’s demand, for $ 1.5 million to pay for her various expenses such as security.
The judge also rejected a motion to expedite Dr Dre, paying $5 million in lawyers’ fees for her lawyers. Young’s lawyers were in court on Thursday asking the judge to accept a $ 1.5 million security claim if he received death threats according to TMZ.
One of the reasons the judge rejected her request was that she released her security team, for which Dre had already paid. He claims Dre is in control and wants to provide her own safety, and says Dre warned her that if her security team didn’t do what he said he would fire them. Dre’s lawyer told the judge that the hip-hop tycoon was willing to pay Young’s fees, including security, that the judge assented to.
Young’s attorney also asked the judge to continue the trial concerning the $5 million legal fee hearing and asked the judge to bring it forward from January to this month. However, the judge said no.
When the judge denied Young’s motion, he noted that he was working on more important cases of domestic violence and custody cases and that her case was less serious. He notes that if Dre tries to control Young, he can file restraining order against him.
News broke out earlier this month that Young had submitted nearly $ 2 million in monthly partner assistance applications. It is unclear now if this is the same request as the $ 1.5 million request he made for security.
This week Dre responded to Young’s $ 2 million request, saying, It all looks like an angry person’s anger being exacerbated by opportunistic lawyers. Dr Dre also announced that she had paid Young $ 5 million in legal fees for her divorce already.
