Some Residents in Tamale are facing difficulty in registering in the ongoing pilot voters registration exercise bring organized by the Electoral Commission. The residents are mostly people who want others to vouch for their nationality as Ghanaians.
The Electoral Commission officials in the region said the difficulty is with putting the data of those vouching for them into the system.
While speaking to journalist , Northern Regional Director of the Commission, Lucas Yiryeli said the officials are having problems with the software that is supposed to process the information of those vouching for others. He said the situation has been reported to the headquarters for immediate attention.
“It is a technical challenge we are facing here and it has to do with a software which we have communicated to our superiors in Accra.”
The Electoral Commission began the pilot voters registration exercise early June amidst disagreements with the opposition National Democratic Congress. According to one of the deputy Electoral commissioners, Dr. Bossman Asare, mass registration will begin in late June.
