Arizona Police announced on Thursday that Paul has been charged with criminal trespass and unlawful assembly. Earlier today, Paul tweeted asking police to announce his charges so that they can turn their attention to the protests.

Police report said Paul was at the closed business facility while the looting was ongoing. He reportedly refused to vacate the premises despite a police order from a helicopter.

Paul’s presence at the protest and at the looting faced backlash with people calling for his arrest. A petition for his arrest garnered more than 30,000 signatures on Thursday morning.

A Scottsdale City Court has ordered the controversial Youtuber to appear in court on June 8.

Meanwhile, Paul said neither him nor his friends were engaged in any form of vandalism or looting. He said they were only at the protest to call for Justice for George Floyd.

“I do not condone violence, looting, or breaking the law; however I understand the anger and frustration that led to the destruction we witnessed,” Paul wrote. “While it’s not the answer, it’s important that people see it and collectively figure out how to move forward in a healthy way,” Paul tweeted.
