A 50-year old man and his 9-year old daughter died in a fire outbreak at Ashaiman Lebanon Zone Two according to reports from Myjoyonline.

An eye witness Harouna Abdul Amidu who spoke to Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s Obonu news said the fire started at 8 am on the 7th of May. Amidu said the man’s wife was cooking on a coal-pot while the husband who deals in petroleum products was filling smaller bottles with some petroleum substance.

The eye witness said the fire started when some of the petroleum substance poured on a woolen carpet near the cooking spot.

Two boys and a girl who are also children of the deceased have sustained various degrees of injury. They are on admission at the Tema General Hospital and are in critical condition according to reports.

Amidu said the residents tried to put out the fire but the woman didn’t give out information about his children and husband being inside the room. The rescuers only knew about them after they spotted them at the window in flames.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service later arrived at the scene to quench the fire.
