Former Tasmanian Liberal chief and one-time police minister Rene Hidding has denied accusations he sexually abused a teenage woman within the Nineteen Seventies.

A girl, now aged 56, filed a civil declare for damages within the Supreme Courtroom of Tasmania in February claiming Mr Hidding sexually interfered along with her when she was 14 or 15.

The abuse occurred nearly each day over a six-month interval in 1979, she alleges.

Mr Hidding, who was 26 on the time, filed defence papers this week denying all claims he ‘battered’ her by sexual interference.

The lady alleges Mr Hidding visited her interstate in 2015, and admitted to the alleged conduct and apologised to her.

In Supreme Courtroom of Tasmania paperwork, Mr Hidding admits he visited the state that 12 months and spoke to the lady however denies admitting the alleged battery and denies apologising.

The lady claims she now suffers publish traumatic stress dysfunction, secondary borderline character dysfunction, main melancholy and an alcohol use dysfunction.

Mr Hidding’s defence papers say the lady isn’t entitled to the damages, curiosity and prices, or different aid, sought in her assertion of declare.

Mr Hidding, who give up politics in February 2019 after 20 years as an MP, was the chief of the Liberals in opposition from 2002-06 and later served as police minister.

In September 2019, Tasmania Police introduced it might not lay legal prices towards Mr Hidding after historic abuse allegations had been made towards him by an unnamed lady a number of months earlier.

He strongly denied the claims on the time, labelling them ‘false and malicious’.
