As part of Former President John Mahama 3 days campaign tour in the Upper East Region, he visited the Tuobong community in the Tempane District where he stated that his government in 2015 initiated the free Senior High school(SHS) programme, but the NPP(New Patriotic Party) came and continue it poorly with double-track system. He, however, said in his second coming he will cancel it.

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) added that they started the construction of Free Senior High school blocks purposely for Community Day students about 200 of them were started but not all of them were completed before he moved out of office so that they can give the opportunity to students to attend SHS.

He said when voted back into government, “All the Community Day Schools we were building, 200 of them, we are going to finish them so that all the children can get schools to attend”.

“With the Community Day Schools we are building, we are going to add dormitory blocks for girls and boys so that those who don’t come from the community where the school is sited if they choose that school and they are posted there, they will be able to get a decent place to live and learn.”

The free Senior High school since the New Patriotic Party(NPP) started has enrolled a lot of students who normally their parents could not afford secondary education to get access for free. Ghanaians expect that a bill will be passed so that irrespective of the government in power it will be regularised.
