As part of the preparation toward the general elections come December 7, 2020, the New Patriotic Party held its Primaries elections on  Saturday, 20th June 2020.

67 incumbent Member of Parliament did not contest because they had no contenders and were approved by the party to represent their respective constituencies again. This was not without internal tension, but everything was sorted out calmly.

378 aspirants competed in i68 constituencies comprising 325 men representing 90% and 51 women indicating 10%
