The president of the Republic, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo in his sixth address to the nation on COVID-19 has stated that his government is going to absorb electricity tariffs from 50% to 100%.
Depending on the level of income and power usage of consumers, both residential and commercial power consumers will enjoy up to 100% discount on electricity tariffs for the months of April, May and June.
According to the President “the government will fully absorb electricity bills for the poor. This will include persons who consume up to 50-kilowatt hours per month during the stated period.”
“Other categories of consumers will enjoy a 50% discount during the same period. This will be based on your consumption in the month of March for both residential and commercial consumers,” he continued.
This is part of relief intervention programs by the government amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The state has already absorbed water bills for all consumers for the next three month from April.
