The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has revealed that Nigerian scammer who claimed to be a real estate developer had attempted to defraud an English Premier League Club off about £100 Million.

The Instagram personality known in real life as Ramon Abbas was arraigned before a US court on Friday July 3. He is facing multiple cybercrime charges.

“Abbas maintains social media accounts that frequently showed him in designer clothes, wearing expensive watches and posing in or with luxury cars and charter jets. The FBI’s investigation has revealed that Abbas finances this opulent lifestyle through crime,” the US Department of Justice wrote in court documents.

“Abbas and others further conspired to launder hundreds of millions of dollars from other fraudulent schemes and computer intrusions, including one scheme to steal £100m (approximately $124m) from an English Premier League soccer club,” court documents said.

Hushpuppi was arrested in a raid in early June by Dubai police and Interpol in an operation codenamed “Operation Fox Hunt 2”. If found guilty, he will face up to at least 20 years in prison.

He was arrested together with some 11 other people who are part of his gang responsible for a £350 Million cyberscam.

Hushpuppi’s gang created fake websites of popular companies and banks which they used to collect customer credit card informations and launder the money.

Dubai police said on Thursday, that Hushpuppi was handed over to the FBI together with his close associate popularly known as Woodberry.
