New Patriotic Party chairman Freddie Blay at the news of the demise of the Chief Executive Officer of Forestry Commission and the Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, affectionately called Sir John was saddened with shock and disbelief.
Freddie Blay speaking to Accra based media house monitored by straightnewsonline said, “I’m in shock. I am trying, as it were, to digest it. I still cannot believe it.”
“About three weeks ago I was at his office. He was very well and happy, we cracked jokes. He was very healthy and full of life,” he said.
This is indeed a big blow to the New Patriotic Party. Not long ago an ardent, vibrant, and hard-working mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi and a member of the New Patriotic Party died after a short illness. However, the demise of ‘Sir John’ is not only a loss to the NPP but also to the nation as a whole.
