Former President and founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings has disclosed that, until the Coronavirus pandemic goes, he wont barber his hair.
Rawlings was first spotted with his bushy grey hair at the 2020 June 4th Uprising anniversary held in Accra.
His new outlook which looked like that of Wole Soyinka’s “trademark” hair sent a lot of Ghanaians into a frenzy because that’s the first time the former President kept his hair on so bushy. Several social media users and started comparing and calling him Wole Soyinka.
Speaking to ace journalist Kwaku Sakyi Addo on Asaase Radio on Sunday July 6, the former President said, he is also “hibernating” and he will only cut his hair if the virus goes.
“I wanted to provide evidence that I was also hibernating and I have decided until it [COVID-19] goes, this hair won’t go”, he told Kwaku Sakyi Addo.
The President also spoke about the new look while addressing the June 4th Uprising this year. He said: “For those of you who are wondering about this ‘Moses brush’; if you want, call it ‘Moses broom’, since the President has decided he will use his shaven head to get rid of COVID-19, I will use [my] Moses brush to get rid of it and when it happens, then I think we can go back to our normal look.”
