Exiled Award-winning journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has been vocal on the plan of the Electoral Commission to compile a new voters register in a few months to the December 7 elections.
The commission responded to the order yesterday in a 31 page document. The Electoral commission in the document claimed that the current voters register is a fruit of a poisonous tree, in their own words, “if the tree is poisonous, the fruit is poisonous.”
Reacting to the report, the former Multimedia journalist asked whether President Akuffo-Addo is “poisonous” because he was elected with a “poisonous” register, alluding to the the Electoral Commission’s assertion.
Manasseh wrote on on Twitter: “If the tree is poisonous, the fruit is poisonous.”– EC on current voter register. What happens to a president elected with that same register? Poisonous?”

Meanwhile, parliament has approved the CI laid before it by the Electoral Commission by a majority vote, paving way for the commission to go ahead and compile the voters register using only the Ghana card and passport as primary documents.
The commission in a letter sighted by Straightnewsonline and signed by one of the deputy EC chairpersons, Dr. Bossmas Asare will begin the registration exercise on June 30.
