A police camp in the city of Naivasha, Kenya, west of the capital Nairobi, was set on fire by angry residents who protested the alleged abuse.
Residents set fire in the head of the officer’s resident first before the fire spread to other houses.
Firefighters extinguished the fire, but properties of unknown value was destroyed. According to Matthias Mbogo, sub-county Commissioner Naivasha, no one was injured in the incident.
Police have not arrested anybody yet and are investigating arson.
Kenya’s independent police agent expressed concern over the increase in police brutality last week.
Police watchdog said that during the curfew, at least 15 people were killed by police to limit the spread of the coronavirus. It called for them to be arrested and charged but no action has been taken so far.
