President Nana Akufo-Addo advised Ghanaians to adopt effective lifestyles with the new coronavirus, following instructions from the scientific community that the disease would last a long time.
The President said the outbreak should not stop Ghana’s development program.
He said citizens must take personal responsibility for their lives to ensure strict compliance with Ghana’s various preventive health care measures as a safe way to protect themselves.
Nana Akufo-Addo, speaking at a meeting with heads and elders of the Anlo Traditional Area in the Volta region on Wednesday, said that maintaining social distance, avoiding handshaking among others are the short-term and long-term solution to stopping the spread of COVID-19.
“We are going through a very difficult time in our country that we are all aware of, but this does not mean that our lives must stop. The virus is there, but we must find a way to live with it. Ghana’s business must continue. As I said the most effective way to combat this virus is through our self-discipline, hygiene protocols, social distance, not shaking hands, protection, wearing face masks, etc. This is a short-term and long-term solution to the spread of the virus,” Akufo Addo advised.
