Lionel Messi has reportedly urged his team, Barcelona to make a move for Leeds head coach Marcelo Beilsa to replace Quique Setien.

There are underlying tensions off the pitch at the Camp Nou after a tough season for Barcelona with pressure mounting on Quique Setien who only took over in January.

Beilsa despite seeing Leeds through in the Championship with a promotion back to the Premier League is yet to agree to a new contract with the Yorkshire club as his current contract will be due within this week.

And Messi wishes to see the Argentine manager take over things at Barcelona urging the Catalan giants to snap up Marcelo Beilsa before he signs for Leeds according to reports from the Sun.

The Argentine striker was infuriated as his team bowed down to defeat and surrendered the La Liga title to their bitter rivals Real Madrid in their defeat against Osasuna.

And according reports, Messi believes Marcelo Beilsa will be the right man needed desperately at the Nou Camp to sort out all the underlying issues.

Since taking over at Leeds in 2018, the 64 year old Argentine has made a huge impact at the Yorkshire club turning things around and implementing a style of play which is suited at Barcelona.

The Argentine manager has won the Championship with Leeds and is yet to sign an extension with his current contract due within the week

He made tbe play-offs in his first season in charge and eventhough missed out on promotion, they came back stronger this time around winning the Championship and gaining promotion into the 2020/21 Premier League season.
