Mesut Ozil has offered to reimburse Arsenal for the salary of Gunnersaurus if they give the mascot his job back at the Emirates.

Mesut Ozil has offered to pay Arsenal’s mascot Gunnersaurus’ salary after being dieemed surplus to requirements by the Gunners

Jerry Quy who been with the club for over 25 years was dismissed as fans haven’t been allowed back to the stadium with Arsenal deeming him surplus to requirements on Monday.

A fundraising page was even set for the guy who always donned a dinosaur suit to play Arsenal’s mascot.

With ex Arsenal player sympathetic over the decision, Mesut Ozil, who has been out of favour at Arsenal in Mikel Arteta’s team and who is yet to kick a ball this season has tweeted he will pay the mascot’s salary for as long as he is an Arsenal player.

Hw wrote: “I was so sad that Jerry Quy aka our famous & loyal mascot Gunnersaurus and integral part of our club was being made redundant after 27 years.

“As such, I’m offering to reimburse Arsenal with the full salary of our big green guy as long as I will be an Arsenal player so Jerry can continue that he loves so much.”
