NBA legend, Michael Jordan and his Jordan Brand have pledged to donate $100 Million to groups fighting for racial justice and equality over the course of 10 years.

The announcement followed the killing of an African-American man, George Floyd who died last week Monday while a Minneapolis police officer held a knee to his neck till he passed out. The killing resulted in a week of protests across the 50 states in the United States with protesters clashing with police officers in several cities.

More than 10,000 people have been arrested in connection with the protests according to an AP news tally.

The president of Jordan Brand, Craig Williams said: “We are announcing a joint commitment from Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand to donate $100m over the next 10 years. We must join forces with the community, government and civic leaders to create a lasting impact together.”

Craig said there is still more the better done for the black community in America and reiterated that Jordan Brand and Michael Jordan embrace the “responsibility” to step in for the people.

Michael Jordan said he feels the “pain” of those calling for justice for murdered blacks and their families. He said they’ve had “enough” and he stands with them.
