The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has asked the Electoral Commission (EC) to provide it with training manuals for officials who will guide the upcoming voter registration at various centres throughout the country.

The NDC also requests training manuals for representatives of political parties and documents and other forms related to registration.

The party submitted a request by letter to the head of the WC, which was signed by Secretary-General Johnson Aseidu Nketia.

“The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is aware of the ongoing national training exercise by the Electoral Commission to prepare its staff for the use of voter registration before the 2020 general election.”

In the letter, the NDC emphasized that “as a key actor whose agent has an important role to do during the exercise to ensure their credibility, this letter formally asks the Commission to provide the NDC with the above documents and other material, doing so allows the party to adequately prepare our agents for that. Thank you very much. ”

This comes as a surprise since the NDC is strong opposition to the EC’s intentions to compile a new voter register for the 2020 general election in December.

Although the Election Commission has scheduled a meeting with the Inter-Party Advisory Committee on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, to resolve the problem with the registration process, the NDC has declared their intentions of boycotting the meeting.
