According to Energy Minister Peter Amewu at a Press Briefing organized today on the 16th April 2020 the Cylinder Recirculation Recovery Margin is withdrawn which was purported at 13.5per kilogram to take effect has been suspended.

“That slight increase in price that you saw in the papers, it has been withdrawn. The recirculation module, I think as you are all aware was a very noble thing introduced by the government. That amount you saw was supposed to level up the prices. It has been withdrawn,” he said.

He also highlighted that government will look into the levy and decides on what to do in the near future after Cabinet review.

Duncan Amoah, Executive Secretary, COPEC

Earlier executive Secretary of The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers Ghana ( COPEC), Duncan Amoah according to our labeled the new levy imposed by NPA as illegal and that it did not go through the right channel.

The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers and the Consumer Protection Agency had sued the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) over the introduction of the Cylinder Recirculation Recovery Margin.
