A New Patriotic Party constituency chairman has been involved in a ghastly car accident, narrowly escaping death. The party chairman known as Dr Akyea Darkwa had the accident on the Asutware-Akosombo road in the Eastern Region.
He was taken to the Akosombo hospital from the scene and is currently on admission there awaiting an imminent transfer to the St. Joseph Hospital in Koforidua.
Dr Akyea Darkwah was at the national party headquarters to take delivery of vehicles for some orphan constituencies. He was involved in the accident while returning to the Eastern region together with his constituency party executives.
Dr Akyea who is currently the New Patriotic Party Chairman for Asuogyaman constituency in the Eastern Region had multiple fractures on his right leg and hand and had sustained several other injuries.
According to a close source to the chairman who spoke to Michael Kudekor, the chairman’s car ran into a broken down truck packed in the middle of the road without any warning or reflectors. The front of his car, a black Toyota SUV was bangled into pieces.
He was supposed to commission a free nose mask sharing project in Asuogyaman yesterday morning.
