The Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee in parliament has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of hacking a website the National Democratic Congress (NDC) created to fact-check the NPP’s 2016 election manifesto.
Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa made the allegations while speaking at the third edition of the NDC’s weekly press briefing hosted at the Alisa Hotel.
The NDC created a website with the domain name www.nppfailedpromises.com which outlined a number of promises made by the New Patriotic Party in round up to the 2016 election which brought them to power.
During the course of the presentation at the hotel, the website started experiencing technical challenges. The former deputy education minister said the technical team informed him that hackers were interfering with the website.
He promised that the party will do anything possible including building more “firewalls” to protect the site from hackers. He further jokingly asked the hackers to hack the 200 hard copies of the presentation that they’ve printed.
The NDC said at the briefing that the NPP scored 14% out of 100% when it comes to delivering on promises made by the Akuffo-Addo led administration.
