Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent his congratulations to Manchester City for winning the title and admitted United need signings in the summer to challenge Pep Guardiola’s side.
Speaking after his 2-1 defeat at home to Leicester City which is also their first home defeat after 15 games, Solskjaer is already thinking of a way to close the gap on his neighbours.
“If you want to take up the challenge with them we need to strengthen our squad,” said the United boss.
“Congratulations tho them. They’ve had a fantastic season but I’m very pleased with my boys that we have made it to the last 10 days with a City side ahead of us that are lauded as the best in Europe.
“We want to take the next step and it might be that we need a couple more signings to strengthen the squad.”
United have already extended Edinson Cavani’s deal until the summer of 2022 and the boss looks to add more signings ahead of the upcoming season to close down on City and challenge for the Premier League title.
