Mikel Arteta has not ruled out the possibility of Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney featuring against Manchester City on Saturday.

Arteta says Thomas Partey could play against Man City on Saturday after assessing his fitness during training on Thursday and Friday

Partey could make his debut against Manchester City after completing his £45m move from Atletico Madrid on Deadline Day.

The new Gunners signing arrived at Arsenal training ground for the first time on Tuesday after international duty with Ghana and could make his debut against Manchester City.

Arteta says Partey’s fitness will be assessed during training on Thursday and Friday and the decision to include him in the squad will be dependent on that.

“Today he will have his first training session. He will need to go quickly. He wants to play. We will see [on Saturday]. You see players adapting really quickly and others taking a long time,” Arteta said on Thursday morning.

Kieran Tierney who has been ordered to self isolate for 14 days has also not been ruled out to play against City as Arsenal look to learn more about his availability

“I’ve seen the buzz around the place. The fans are really happy, I’ve seen some really positive reaction. The same with the team and staff. We have rated him for a long time.”

Kieran Tierney was ordered to self-isolate for fourteen days from Tuesday after his Scotland teammate Stuart Armstrong whom he was very close with tested positive for Covid-19.

However ther Gunners have not ruled out the left-back of Saturday’s game and hope to learn if the defender will be permitted to be made available to play on Saturday.
