Information Miniter, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has disclosed that the country is facing challenges at the borders as some Ghanaians are smuggling persons infected with the virus into the country.
The minister made the revelation during an interview on Citi Breakfast Shows on the effort made so far by the government to curb the spread of the virus.
He continued that the country has achieved some success in limiting the number of imported cases with the closure of the borders in March.
Despite the success, the real challenge is Ghanaians who are smuggling people into the country through the borders.
It has been alleged that the country’s borders are porous allowing illegal entering despite the closure of the borders but the minister has affirmed that the situation is a reality.
The number of imported cases of COVID-19 account to over 30% of the total number of cases recorded.
