Paul Pogba reportedly is on the verge of signing a new five-year-deal at Old Trafford after a massive resurgence over the past 12 months.
Pogba was on the verge of leaving Manchester United over the last summer with his former club Juventus and Real Madrid rumoured to be the destination for the World Cup winner.
But Pogba gad worked his way back to the top by performing brilliantly alongside Bruno Fernandes in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield since the restart and the midfielder is set to sign a new extension with The Sun reporting that the deal will be announced at the end of the season.
Pogba is reported to be one of the key men in Solskjaer’s plan for the future. With just one year left on his current contract though United have the option to extend for another year, a new deal till 2025 is on the cards and they hope to tie the midfielder down for a long term.
Despite his error in the first half that led to Southampton’s equaliser in their 2-2 draw on Monday, Pogba has been one of the outstanding performers in United’s team since the Premier League restart.
The French midfielder has been brilliantly performing alongside January acquisition Bruno Fernandes and Ole when asked about the midfielder’s form and if he will rest him in their game against Crystal Palace on Thursday said: ‘I’ve been speaking more or less every day with Paul. He knows he wouldn’t be dropped.
‘When Paul plays like this, he wouldn’t be dropped from any team in the world — France or Manchester United — but he’s been out for a long, long time.
‘There was a question mark before the game against Southampton but he felt ready for it, which was great, so now let’s see how he is.
‘He’s been fantastic since the restart and brought a lot to the team.’
