President Nana Akufo-Addo has extended the ban on social gatherings which was initially for the duration of one-month by another 2-weeks.

The information was made public by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin through a Facebook.

According to the Director, the president has signed the Executive Instruments for the extension of the ban placed on social gatherings including all religious gathering which was imposed by EI 64 and 65.

The initial ban was announced by the President during an address to the nation on the 15th March 2020 as part of measures to curb the spreading of the virus in the country. The extension takes effect on Monday, 13th April 2020.

Mr Arhin further disclosed that restriction of movement for people in Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Kasoa has also been extended by one week which also takes effect on Monday, 13th April 2020.

All other provisions including the restrictions and exemption under EI 64 and 65 are also in full force according to the director.
