The White House has confirmed earlier reports from CNN which said one of the President’s valets has tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. The situation has raised concerns about President Trump’s exposure to the virus.
The valets are a special military unit which serve directly at the liberty of the White House especially, the first family. The President was very angry when he got the news on Wednesday that one of his valets tested positive.
“We were recently notified by the White House Medical Unit that a member of the United States Military, who works on the White House campus, has tested positive for Coronavirus,” deputy White House press secretary, Hogan Gidley said in a statement.
The President was tested again on Wednesday as well as the Vice-President after the news came.
Deputy press secretary Gidley said “the President and the Vice President have since tested negative for the virus and they remain in great health.”
Valets perform various tasks in the White House. They travel with the President and are in charge of the First Family’s food among other tasks.
The White House hasn’t enforced social distancing on its campus. A few of the staffers wear nose masks on a regular basis. The President however, is unperturbed about the situation.
“The test result comes back in five minutes, and we have great testing. Or they wouldn’t be allowed to travel with me.
“It’s not my choice; it’s a very strong group of people that want to make sure they are tested, including Secret Service,” the President said.
