A 16-year boy, Abdul-Gafar Kassim who was rushed to the Manhyia Government Hospital after he was shot from an unidentified source at Aboabo Number Two amid Eid-ul-Adha celebrations on Tuesday, 20th July,2021 in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region is confirmed dead by Manhyia Government Hospital following a report monitored by straightnewsonline.com. However, another person who was also a victim of the stray bullet is admitted in the same hospital with various degree of wounds is alive receiving treatment.
The incident occurred after Eid-ul-Adha prayer was said. Celebrations followed after mosque with open display of gunshots here and there but unfortunately kills Kassim and injured another person.
The matter has been reported to the Asokore Mampong Police Service and so investigations and search for the killer(s) is on-going in earnest.
The family of the deceased in Citi News confirmed that Abdul-Gafar Kassim is dead and that they are preparing to take their child from the mortuary for necessary burial service as Islamic religion dictates immediate burial.
“We just saw the dead body when we came here [the hospital]. We do not want our dead body to waste time in the mortuary, that is why we are here”, Abdul-Gafar Kassim family says.
