Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has tested for Coronavirus and is currently self isolating.
Mane, who started and scored in Liverpool’s 3-1 showdown at Anfield on Monday night against Arsenal displayed minor symptoms of the virus but is in good health overall, the club confirmed.
Alcantara this week also was announced to have tested positive for the virus.
The club said in a statement that: “Sadio Mane has tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently self-isolating according to the necessary guidelines.
“The forward who started and scored in Monday’s 3-1 victory over Arsenal has displayed minor symptoms of the virus but feels in good health overall.
“However, like with Thiago Alcantara, Live
rpool Football Club are and will continue to follow all protocols relating to Covid-19 and Mane will self isolate for the required period of time.”
Alcantara missed Arsenal’s game after he also tested positive for the virus and both himself and Mane will miss Liverpool’s clash with Aston Villa at the Villa Park om Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp will hope to have both players back after the two weeks international break period with a return on October 17 for the Merseyside Derby against Everton.
