Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri has admitted that he would love to keep Miralem Pjanic despite the midfielder being on the verge of a swap deal to Barcelona for Arthur Melo
The two clubs last month were reported to have agreed on a £70m deal with Juventus expetced to pay FC Barcelona £9million in addition to Pjanic for Arthur Melo.
Speaking after his sides 4-0 victory over Leece, the Juventus boss, Sarri, said he was hopeful that Pjanic will stay with his side despite the developments.
‘He’ll be with us until the end of August,’ said the Juve boss.
‘I hope he’ll stay with us even beyond that, but these are decisions that will be made at a later stage.
‘Miralem’s a professional, he understands situations quickly. I don’t know anything at the moment, but I’m not worried.’
Sarri would like to build his midfield around the 23-year-old Brazilian midfielder Arthur but also would love to keep Pjanic at the club.
Arthur Melo has been reluctant to leave the Camp Nou and would like to stay and fight for his place in the Barcelona team.
But Juventus have reportedly offered the midfielder a lucrative five-year-deal which will see him earn twice his £84,000-a-week wages to persuade him to leave the Camp Nou.
Barcelona who have been financially hit by the Coronavirus pandemic will be happy to make a deal with Juventus to raise money and keep their finances in shape.
