Talking on the documentary The Return: Life After Isis, Ms Begum revealed how she made the choice to journey to Syria. She mentioned: ‘I knew it was an enormous resolution, however I simply felt compelled to do it shortly. 

‘I did not need to be the good friend that was left behind.’

Within the documentary she cried when speaking about shedding her three youngsters throughout the Syrian conflict and says that she wished to kill herself due to the grief.
