David Luiz has shockingly signed a new one year deal that will see him with the Gunners till June 2021.

Cedric Soares has also completed a permanent move from Southampton agreeing a four year deal with Arsenal.

David Luiz was widely criticized for his lacklustre performance against Manchester City at the Ethihad when the Gunners restarted their season with hopes of a fresh start amid European qualification and  was sent off as Arsenal suffered a 3-0 defeat.

The defender took blame for his actions and apologised with critics looking forward to the end of the road for the defender with the North London based club but shockingly has been offered a new deal worth around £120,000 until June 30.

Clubs were given an ultimatum [up to Tuesday]  to finalise short term deals with stars whose contracts were due to expire this month but Arsenal have decided to keep the defender for another year.

Mikel Arteta has confidence in Luiz and stood by him and Cedric Soares who is yet to make any appearance for Arsenal since joining on loan from Southampton.

Soares was facing a knee ligament and facial injury but the manager has been impressed by the attitude of both players in training and believes they can make a good contribution to the team.

Defender Pablo Mari who will be sidelined for up to four months with an ankle ligament damage has also joined permanently from Flamengo. The deal according to Sportsmail is in the region of £14 million.

The Gunners has had an injury stricken restart with Granit Xhaka and Pablo Mari injured in the game against Man City and recently Gabriel Martinelli also sidelined with knee cartilage injury.

Bernd Leno who clashed with Maupay during the game against Brighton has escaped a cruciate ligament injury and will be out for six weeks.
