Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Brazilian striker Carlos Vinicius from Benfica on loan with an option to buy for a fee around £36m.

The Brazilian joined Benfica from Napoli last summer for a transfer fee of £15m and is expected to serve as a back up for Harry Kane.

Vinicius scored 24 goals for Benfica last season across all competitions and was linked with a host of clubs across Europe including Juventus and Inter Milan.

The 25-year-old spent loan spells at Monaco and Portuguese side Rio Ave before his move to Benfica.

He featured for Benfica in the Champions League scoring in their 2-2 draw against Leipzig and helped the Benfica club to win the Portuguese Super Cup.

Vinicius becomes the sixth signing for Spurs of the transfer window after Matt Doherty, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Serhio Regulion all on a permanent deal and Gareth Bale on a season-long loan.

Vinicius will wear the No.45 shirt at Spurs.
