The Controller and Accountant General’s Department highlighted the fact that they are also working on the modalities for the 50% of basic salary addition to frontline health workers salaries in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health for onward payment to them as well which is also scheduled to take place at April, May and June 2020.

“This will reflect in each of the three months’ (April, May and June 2020) Payroll,” according to a statement from the department.

“On the 50 percent of basic salary as an allowance for frontline health workers for the next three months, the department has engaged the Ministry of Health on the modalities for effecting payment.”

This is a motivation package for health workers. It is seemingly not enough, however, what is critically important is that the coronavirus pandemic is rooted out of Ghana. The success of Ghana in the fight against COVID-19 depends largely on the collaboration and cooperation of those living in Ghana. Additionally, strict adherence to COVID-19 preventive measures and lockdown restrictions are key to the successful fight of the disease.

The harm coronavirus has caused is unimaginable, lots of deaths all over and economic hardship rearing its ugly face gradually.
