The Mayor of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Kobina Kurentsir Sam, went to the University of Ghana hospital according to sources for medical treatment but unfortunately, death rears its ugly head against him.

A close assistant and advisor sort of to the mayor, Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan in an interview with Empire News monitored by straightnewsonline said his former boss had died of COVID-19.

The mayor’s death came a few weeks after his personal driver tested positive to the coronavirus. The mayor’s driver, whose name is unknown, was put in solitary confinement, but the mayor continued to report to work despite requests self-quarantine.

Ghana has now registered 498 new cases of COVID-19, with a total of 10,856 cases in the country. The death toll is still 48 and recovery is up to 3,921, Ghana’s health service said in the latest update.

Unfortunately, as the recoveries for coronavirus cases are increasing, the confirmed cases and deaths are increasing as well even though there are differences in the percentage change.
