President Donald Trump has told Republican supporters in Alabama not to trust his former Attorney General Jeff Sessions during a string of candidate endorsements on twitter on Friday.

Jeff Sessions was fired after the mid-term elections to pave way for Trump’s bidder, Attorney General William Barr. Jeff Sessions was the first Attorney General of the Trump Administration until he recused himself from the Russia probe, a decision Trump felt betrayed with.

Jeff Sessions, the rigid immigration frontliner and the first senator to endorse Donald Trump for the 2016 election is running for his old senate seat in Alabama. Republicans lost the seat in December 2017 to Democrat Doug Jones after they nominated a controversial scandal embroiled Roy Moore.

The President in a tweet on Friday night endorsed Sessions’ opponent, Coach Tommy Tuberville and called on Alabama not to trust the former senator.

Trump wrote on Twitter, “Three years ago, after Jeff Sessions recused himself, the Fraudulent Mueller Scam began. Alabama, do not trust Jeff Sessions. He let our Country down. That’s why I endorsed Coach Tommy Tuberville, the true supporter of our #MAGA agenda!”

Jeff Sessions responded to the President’s attack in a tweet on Friday night. He wrote: ”

“Look, I know your anger, but recusal was required by law. I did my duty and you’re damn fortunate I did. It protected the rule of law and resulted in your exoneration.

“Your personal feelings don’t dictate who Alabama picks as their senator, the people of Alabama do.”

Sessions further attacked his opponent, Tuberville, accusing him of having different views on immigration which are not consistent with the President’s.

He spinned the attacks against him around and turned the heat on Tuberville saying, he (Tuberville) is “a coward who is rightly too afraid to debate me. He says you’re wrong on China and trade. He wants to bring in even more foreign workers to take American jobs. That’s not your agenda and it’s not mine or Alabama’s. I know Alabama. Tuberville doesn’t.”
