President Akufo Addo had reiterated that the uncompleted health infrastructural projects would be completed and that this is a mark of underdevelopment. “We have problems of numerous structures at various stages of completion that cannot be finished and brought to use because new structures are being started and there is no money to finish the ones started earlier. Again, this is a long-standing problem that is a mark of our underdevelopment. We will not ignore or sweep the problem under the carpet, and we are dealing with it, and we will complete them,” Akufo Addo posited.
There had been incessant concerns about hospitals projects left uncompleted by many Ghanaians, pressure groups and opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC).
The Ranking Member on the Health Committee of Parliament, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh had indicated that more pressure would be put on government to complete the uncompleted hospital projects after he toured various sites of uncompleted hospitals. He is of the opinion that if the government had not completed the abandoned hospitals then the proposed 111 hospitals should not be started.
However, the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu says the government had not abandoned such projects and that plans are far advanced to complete them.
