Police reports indicate that a group of 10 men on motorbikes committed the crime.

They claim to be part of a group known as Aluta’s boys who stabbed the NDC regional office with guns.

They were reported to have smashed windows of the party secretary’s office, reception door, and window panes with stones before leaving the scene.

The police were able to retrieve two empty bullet cases from the crime scene for further investigations.

In an interview with CitiNews, Northern Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mohamed Abdul-Salam said: “I was preparing for a meeting in my office when three men with guns suddenly entered the office and searched my drawers and refrigerators.”

“They smashed and broke the glass doors and windows in the process,” he added.

According to the secretary, the shooters then came out, fired three shots and left with their bikes.

Although unknown to him, Mohammed Abdul-Salam said he could identify the attackers and even named one of them as Jalil whose name he heard during the attack.

“I don’t know the identity of the attackers but I can identify them if paraded before me. I can’t say they are our people since I can’t associate them with the party,” he started.

Earlier this week, party leaders in the region suspended some members for allegedly distributing sugar to people without the knowledge of the Regional Chairman which has raised some level of tension within the party.

However, the secretary denied the possibility that the suspension was the cause of vandalism.

The secretary also disclosed that the attackers left the office empty-handed, no materials were taken from the place.

The Police CID has launched an investigation into the matter.
