The Avian Influenza disease popularly called bird flu which affect poultry has found its way to Ghana from possible countries where imports are made from since July the Veterinary Services officially made known this to the public.

The Service has additionally raised an alarm of possible outbreak in Savannah, North East, Upper West, Upper East, Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, Western, Western North, Eastern regions. Meanwhile Ashanti , Greater Accra, Central and Volta regions have so far recorded over 32,000 poultry death as a result of bird flu according to the data released on that in July 31,2021.
The Veterinary Service in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture had ban the importation of poultry and poultry products from the countries where the disease has been confirmed existed. Further, there had been a ban on the movements of poultry products from the regions and districts where the disease is confirmed in Ghana. However, unaffected districts and regions, poultry products are to be inspected before consumption or movements from and to such places.
